(CNW) Scott Hand, CEO of Inco Ltd., took part in the opening of the Inco Innovation Centre, a new research and innovation facility at Memorial University in St. John?s, Nfld., yesterday.
Inco committed $20 million toward the facility.
Funding for the Innovation Centre was part of the terms of the development agreement entered into with the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador regarding the Voisey?s Bay nickel-cobalt project.
The Inco Innovation Centre houses a wide range of research, business support and educational facilities on three floors. The centre will focus on developing leading edge technologies to support advanced exploration techniques, and serve as a centre for applied environmental studies and for the development of mineral processing technologies based upon hydrometallurgical techniques.
