Inco's Power Play program was highlighted as one of the success stories of the past year in the chief energy conservation officer's annual Ontario report, Our Conservation Challenge.

The 48-page report was authored by Peter Love, chief energy conservation officer, and calls on Ontarians to adopt a culture of conservation. The report also provides the government with recommendations for achieving their goal of reducing electricity demand by ten percent by 2007.

When Inco ran the pilot for the Power Play program, 500 employees came up with more than 650 energy-saving ideas, identifying $9.7 million in savings - three times greater than the company's original target of $2.7 million.
