The steering committee that will lead the development of a Regional Infection Control Network for northeastern Ontario is in the process of establishing offices in Greater Sudbury.

According to a report filed by hospital CEO Vickie Kaminski at a Sudbury Regional Hospital board of directors meeting Oct. 10, the network will enhance activities that relate to infection prevention and control and will have wide-ranging benefits for the health and safety of both patients and health care providers.

The network will serve to coordinate infection prevention and control activities throughout the healthcare system. The network is also designed to improve communication and information sharing while increasing access to infection prevention and control expertise.
