Thanks to a couple of spring snowstorms since the Easter weekend, the cross-country ski season extended well into April.

However, the Walden Cross-Country Fitness Club said this week it's officially calling it quits for the season.

“It's been a wild winter to say the least!” the club said in an email to members.

“Mother Nature made it tricky, but thanks to our world-class grooming team, our tireless volunteers and our steadfast staff, we were still able to offer amazing trails, warm facilities, action-packed programs, and high-calibre events.”

It's now time to pump up the tires on your mountain bike, as the facility is taken over by mountain bikers once the snow is gone and the ground has dried up.

Members are also invited to take part in the club's annual general meeting at 7 p.m. May 7 in the chalet.

“This is a great opportunity to tell us what you love about our club and what you feel is lacking,” the email said. “It takes a village!”

By the way, Walden Cross-Country Fitness Club won Winter's Best cross-country trail in a video series Sudbury.com ran this winter. You can check out our adventures on the trails here.
