It's the final day to get your Greek on

Festival comes to a close tonight

The aroma of freshly prepared Greek cuisine fills the air at the Hellenic Centre on the shores of St. Charles Lake.

It's not even noon yet, and already people are lining up to get a taste. But that's part and parcel for the annual Greek Festival, which is celebrating its 24th year.

Sisters Maria and Famia sit inside the centre, next to the dessert table, and watch what's going on. They said they just like to sit, relax, and see everyone coming and going.

And there were plenty of people coming and going. Not even the rain could whet the appetites of those hungry for some Greek food.

But it wasn't all about food. There was also Greek music, dancing and games for the children. A Greek boutique has authentic Greek souvenirs for sale. And, of course, there are the performances by the Sudbury Hellenic dancers.

The festival will run into the evening, so if you have a hankering for Greek cuisine and culture, head to 486 Ester St.
