The Justice Over Everything: Making Appropriate Choices (JoeMac) committee name is once again being used by telephone scam artists looking to profit from the death of Const. Joe MacDonald.
A committee news release states police are not releasing details of the scam in order to protect the integrity of the investigation.
"JoeMac has not and would not embark on a telephone campaign to solicit funds," said committee chair Rick Bartolucci.
"We as a committee are appalled that anyone would do such a thing, that anyone would seek to profit from the death of Joe MacDonald or the efforts of our committee."
This is the second time since JoeMac was formed last fall that the committee has been advised telephone scam artists have tried to use the JoeMac name.
Anyone contacted by a telephone solicitor claiming to fundraise for the committee is urged to phone Greater Sudbury Police at 675-9171 or Crime Stoppers at 675-TIPS (8477).
