Health Sciences North (HSN) Foundation received a record-breaking $50,860 from the local Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign to support priority needs at HSN.
The campaign, which ran the week of Sept. 14, brought Tim Horton’s restaurant owners, volunteers and the community together to support charities during an unprecedented year.
One-hundred-per-cent of the proceeds from Smile Cookies sold at the two Tim Hortons located at the main hospital site, and a portion from others in the City of Greater Sudbury, goes towards supporting quality patient care at HSN.
HSN Foundation offered the popular Smile-A-Grams once again this year as part of the campaign, with over 180 packages of Smile Cookies with personalized messages sold to staff, volunteers and patients throughout the hospital.
“We continue to be amazed by the tremendous support we receive from our community, especially during times like these,” said Anthony Keating, president and CDO of Foundations and Volunteer Groups at HSN. “Thank you to local Tim Hortons restaurants, our volunteers who decorated thousands of Smile Cookies and our generous community for supporting the campaign through cookie purchases. Every Smile Cookie sold benefits patients, right here in our community and we are grateful.”
“Our team at Marek Hospitality was ready and excited to partner with HSN Foundation once again this year for a successful campaign,” said Erika Theriault, Food Service director, HSN, Marek Hospitality Inc. “Close to 4,800 Smile Cookies were decorated by a team of Tim Hortons employees and HSN Foundation volunteers, and sold between the two Tim Hortons locations at HSN.”
Local Tim Hortons franchises raised a total of $137,459 across Greater Sudbury this year with the sale of Smile Cookies, with all proceeds going to several charities and organizations, including HSN Foundation.
