A long-standing tradition of caring will continue on Wednesday, Oct. 26, when the students and staff of Lockerby Composite School canvass the city and surrounding communities from 6-9 p.m.

Funds raised will go towards the Pediatric Oncology Program of the Northeast Cancer Centre at Health Sciences North. Students will be wearing identifiable ribbons and issuing receipts for every donation.

This year marks the 21st anniversary of Lockerby Composite School’s tribute to former student Laura Cotesta.

“Laura started this campaign while she was attending Lockerby and fighting her own battle with cancer,” says principal Craig Runciman. “Staff and students have kept Laura in their hearts and memories by fulfilling her dream and honouring her legacy.”

To date, Lockerby Composite School has raised over $800,000 for pediatric cancer care in the north.

“Our students take tremendous pride in what they have accomplished,” adds Runciman. “They hope to enjoy the same amount of community support as last year when they raised $64,000.”

To make a donation to the Kids Caring for Kids Cancer Drive, phone the Northern Cancer Foundation at 705-523-4673 (HOPE) or Lockerby Composite School at 705-522-1750.
