Sudbury & District Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Penny Sutcliffe, has lifted the boil water advisory for all residents of the Village of Killarney. The boil water advisory has been in effect since April 14, 2003.

The health unit originally issued the advisory when it received information from the Ministry of Environment that operational deficiencies with the
Killarney water treatment plant posed a potential risk to human health.

The Village of Killarney was to remain on the boil water advisory until the Ministry of the Environment advised the health unit that the operational concerns had been addressed.

?The Village of Killarney has now completed the construction of a new water treatment plant and the Ministry of Environment has told us that all operational systems within the plant are functioning satisfactorily,? said Ed Gardner, a manager in the health unit?s Environmental Health Division, in a press release.

Drinking water samples collected by the Sudbury & District Health Unit were analyzed and found to be satisfactory.
