Ladies and gentlemen, stuff your faces

The Blueberry Machine does one better from a year ago

Crowds gathered at the Rainbow Centre on July 20 to watch local celebrities dive face-first into Downtown Sudbury’s Annual Celebrity Blueberry Pie Eating Contest.

The competition was tight this year as last year’s second place winner Bryan “The Blueberry Machine” Cooper and newcomer Connor LaRocque started the competition neck and neck. Cooper eventually gained the lead in the competition and held on for the victory.

With a time of 3:20, Cooper (KICX 91.7) took home the champion title while Connor LaRocque (LA Roqk Enterprises) came in second place.

Dustin “Deep Dish” Laurin (KISS 105.3) took third, with valiant efforts made by Alicia “a la mode” Dalanyi (92.7 ROCK), Katlyn “The Blueberry Queen” Kotila (Miss Teen Heartbeat 2016) and Alessandro “Blueberry Martini” Constantini (YES Theatre).

“It was the most exciting race we’ve seen in a long time,” said Maggie Leblanc, Program Coordinator at Downtown Sudbury.

“Our spectator section keeps growing along with the amount of contestants wanting to participate! It’s great to see everyone so enthusiastic about this Blueberry Festival event.”
