The Natura event Hall at Verdicchio's will be transformed into the City of Lights on Thursday, Oct. 13 for the Girls Take... Paris Cocktail Party to raise research funds for cancer research through the Canadian Cancer Society.

The second annual Girls Take event will transform the event hall into Paris' Champs-Élysées with a menu full of French delicacies, a champagne bar and live entertainment, including a performance by Sudbury's Pandora Topp as French songstress Edith Piaf.

“What we want to do every year is transpose Verdicchio's into different cities that women would love to go to,” said Sue Lekun, co-chair of the Girls Take Committee.

The first event, last year, hosted around 200 women and raised $35,000 for cancer research.

The theme in 2015 was Girls Take... New York, and the event featured a walking Statue of Liberty and Frank Sinatra impersonator.

This year's event will include a silent auction with around 130 items, and gift bags with a chance to win a number of trips, thanks to Expedia and Porter Airlines.

Lekun said this year's goal is to surpass the $35,000 raised for cancer research in 2015.

Tickets for the event are $100 each, and can be purchased by calling the Canadian Cancer Society Sudbury office at 705-670-1234 or online at cancer.ca/girlstakeparis.
