Lanes closed on The Kingsway to remove rock

Cold, wet weather has necessitated the immediate removal of loose rock on an outcrop directly opposite Kelsey's Restaurant on the north side of The Kingway.

Cold, wet weather has necessitated the immediate removal of loose rock on an outcrop directly opposite Kelsey's Restaurant on the north side of The Kingway.

A contractor for the City of Greater Sudbury has started preparatory work that will close one westbound lane in this area.

Today and Tuesday, traffic on The Kingsway will be reduced to one lane in each direction at the west entrance to the RioCan Centre, between 9 am and 3 pm each day.

Blasting and scaling will require the contractor to stop traffic for brief periods of time.

The public is being asked to show patience. Scaling is necessary to prevent rock from falling on the busy thoroughfare. Motorists are being asked to allow for extra time to reach their destination and to take alternate routes when possible.
