Laurentian University will be receiving the Board of Governors? Distinguished Partnership Award from Georgian College on Monday.
According to a press release, the partnership award is presented to ?noteworthy partners in the community who have made an exemplary contribution in support of student access and success, as well as the mission and goals of the College.
Dr. Judith Woodsworth, Laurentian University President, will be accepting the award.

respective stengths,? said Woodsworth. ?Our institution is pleased to offer high quality academic university programs to high school graduates from the
Barrie area and elsewhere. This relationship has been positive and beneficial to all concerned and we look forward to a continued partnership.?
Laurentian and Georgian joined together in 2001 to offer university courses at the Barrie college. The program allows students the flexibility of completing a three-year Bachelor of Arts (General) degree at the Georgian campus or earning a four-year Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree by attending Laurentian for the fourth year. The agreement grants students the opportunity to enrol in a four-year program in six disciplines: English, political science, psychology, sociology, history and gerontology.
In September 2004, law and justice, as well as social work programs will be offered.
In the first year of the partnership, 50 Georgian students were registered in the program. It is anticipated that approximately 600 full-time students will be following Laurentian courses at Georgian College in September 2004.
