Workplace Safety North (WSN) has announced its speaker lineup for the upcoming Mining Health and Safety Conference this April.

The annual event, which will be held in person in Sudbury April 18-20, brings together industry stakeholders to learn about best practices in health and safety in mining and network with their peers.

This year marks 25th anniversary of the event, which is themed ‘Evolution of Mining Safety: Past reflections and future innovations.’

Featured speakers include:

  • Dr. Rumeet Billan, an expert in leadership, emotional resilience, and mental health, who will speak about the “science of trust” and its importance in solving problems of risk and fostering collaboration and innovation in the workplace;
  • Roy Slack, director of Torex Gold Resources and Cementation Americas, who will speak about the safety journey in the Canadian mining industry;
  • Allan Kehler, a mental health advocate, who will speak about how to help someone who appears to be in distress; and
  • Michelle Cederberg, an expert in change, health and productivity, who will speak about a personal experience of loss following a workplace incident.

The conference will additionally feature an industry panel, a tradeshow, and an awards luncheon to recognize achievements in mining health and safety.

A portion of the conference will also be livestreamed for those who cannot attend in person.
