With close to thirty years of experience in mining and industrial human resources in Northern Ontario, Levert Personnel Resources is expanding into Atlantic Canada’s oil and gas sector by joining with Whelan Affiliated Services (NL), the company said in a news release.

With more than 1,800 employees hired per year across the country, this announcement positions Levert as one of the largest suppliers of industrial workers in Atlantic Canada, according to the release.

With labour shortages in many industries in Ontario, as well as Newfoundland and Labrador, the need to match companies with skilled and experienced workers has never been greater, the company said.

Levert’s acquisition of Whelan Petroleum Personnel Management and Newfoundland Personnel means companies in industries such as mining and oil and gas gain the opportunity to avail of a much larger pool of workers with similar skill sets, as well as benefit from extensive local knowledge of employment and immigration regulations.

Like Whelan, whose well-known Newfoundland Personnel brand also services the demand for office clerical personnel, Levert brings its Celerity Staffing division, which adds even more synergies to the equation.

“It just makes sense,” said Richard Levert, president of Levert Personnel Resources Inc. “The wealth of local experience and knowledge that Whelan Petroleum Personnel Management and Newfoundland Personnel bring to this market makes our combined proposition that much more compelling.

“However, such merges have to have chemistry and common culture to be successful. Our greatest source of pride has always been the culture of safety we have developed at every level in our company. This unifying thread has enabled us to combine our strengths to deliver exceptional value to our clients and to our employees.”
