CUPE Local 4705 hosted its fifth annual charity golf tournament at Forest Ridge Golf Course July 14. This year, the union was raising money to support the charity Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer (NOFCC).

“The day was a tremendous success! The weather was beautiful, and everyone was eager to play a round of golf. Even after losing all the golf balls that we did, we came back to the clubhouse with big smiles on our faces,” the union told Sudbury.com.

The event raised $4,000 towards the NOFCC, which provides “financial support programs, bursaries, educational supports and a variety of other programs designed to reduce costs associated with travelling … we provide assistance to families and cancer survivors,” the organization says on its website.

For supporting the event, Local 4705 thanked CUPE National, CUPE Ontario, Sudbury and District CUPE Council, City of Greater Sudbury, Greater Sudbury Airport, Greater Sudbury Utilities, North Shore Wheel, Silver City Sudbury, Crosstown Chevrolet, Sudbury Credit Union, Cooper Equipment, Cambrian Insurance, Chartrand Independent, Sokkia Canada, Espanola Coffee Roasters, Cambrian Ford, Brokerlink, Jubes, Tutor Doctor, Metro Chelmsford, Canadian Tire Chelmsford, Marcel Gladu from Remax and Forest Ridge Golf Course.
