The 600-square foot, $46,000 addition to Gilles and Lise Brosseau?s business is to be completed near the middle of the month.

A release from Canada Post says mail will be delivered to the store at 94 Main St. W. starting Oct. 6.

Until that time, mail will continue to show up at the Caisse Populaire in the Dowling Plaza.

The new outlet will save residents a trip to Chelmsford to pick up their mail. Since the city?s amalgamation, Dowling?s postal service bounced around from the Caisse populaire to Lorraine?s Kitchen and now back with special services like priority post operating out of Chelmsford.

Brosseau?s business includes a convenience store, garage and gas station. Brosseau will be hiring two additional employees at his own cost.

The expansion comes after a committee of local residents formed to lobby the Crown corporation for a new office in their area in the spring.

Brosseau says he is considering a 10-year agreement with Canada Post.

?This is my way of giving back to the community.?
