Local restaurateur John Law is launching his latest culinary venture, Lot 88 Steakhouse & Bar, on Sept. 25.

Lot 88 Steakhouse & Bar, which is located at 1070 The Kingsway, in the former Fionn MacCool's, is unique to Northern Ontario by offering a steak cooked on stone option.

The new independent steakhouse parallels Law's other local restaurants, which include Asian Restaurant, Overtime Sports Bar and Grill, Swiss Chalet (both locations), Kelseys, Montana’s, Fionn MacCool’s, Thai Express and Cultures, which pride themselves on being community-centric, a press release said.

“My family is rooted in the local food scene as I live here, my children go to school here,” Law said, in the press release.

“Together we immerse ourselves in the Sudbury culinary culture, whether it is with an independent or franchise restaurant.”

The steakhouse launch also coincides with the Sudbury Eats event, where 10 of Law's local restaurants will donate a portion of the proceeds to five local charities, including the Sudbury Food Bank, Canadian Cancer Society, Health Sciences North Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Sudbury and the Sudbury Hospice Foundation.

“Many community initiatives fluctuate between exciting times and trying times,” Law said. “We aim to facilitate more exciting times for our community by partnering with five worthy local charities.”

You are encouraged to support the Sudbury Eats event by visiting any of these listed participating restaurants Sept. 25 until Oct. 17.
