At a special in-camera meeting of the council for the City of Greater Sudbury, held last Sunday at Killarney Mountain Resort, the project was given 100 per cent approval.

Safety was one of the main issues since the silos sit above the old Van Horne Gold Mine shaft. Engineers are concerned as to whether the silos could stand for another 100 years, especially should the mine reopen soon as new ore deposits were discovered in this specific area.

The Laurentian engineers, known for their expertise in demolition as well as their speed of execution, will complete their work culminating with a large blast Monday at 9 am.

Spectators are most welcome to witness this engineering feat as the silos are in close proximity to homes as well Burger King on Notre Dame Ave. Spectators will be able to take samples of the concrete silos home free of charge.

When asked what will replace the Flour Mill silos, Mayor Jim Borden stated negotiations are almost complete to erect a doughnut franchise and theme park on the site.

This will be the 5,000th Jim Mortons doughnut shop and to celebrate its unique location they will be offering their own brand of poutine bringing new meaning to double double double gravy, double cheese!

According to the public relations person from Jim Mortons Doughnuts, Avril dePremier, the poutine recipe was from the great, great grandmother of our prime minister Mr. Jean Crouton.

Flour Mill area residents are justifiably concerned about the removal of their silos, but upon learning of the plans for a Jim Mortons doughnut shop and theme park replacing the Flour Mill silos their general comment was "This is truly heart stopping news."
