LU professor receives award

Laurentian University history professor Gaetan Gervais has been awarded the Ordre des francophones d'Amerique from Conseil superieur de la langue francaise du Quebec.

Laurentian University history professor Gaetan Gervais has been awarded the Ordre des francophones d'Amerique from Conseil superieur de la langue francaise du Quebec.

“We are very proud to see one of our own professors honoured in such a way,” said Harley d'Entremont, Laurentian's academic vice-president of francophone affairs, in a release.

“Mr. Gervais has contributed for more than 30 years to French life at this university, in our province and our country. We wholeheartedly congratulate him.”

Gervais co-created the Franco-Ontarian flag in 1975. He is the author of a book about the Dionne quintuplets and is the founder of a Franco-Ontarian dictionary.

L'Ordre des francophones d'Amerique is awarded annually to individuals who devote themselves to the health and growth of the French language in America.
