LU to honour five

Laurentian University will award five honourary degrees at its spring convocation ceremonies this Thursday and Friday (May 30 and 31).
Laurentian University will award five honourary degrees at its spring convocation ceremonies this Thursday and Friday (May 30 and 31).

The honorees are: Allan Beattie, a native of Copper Cliff and a Toronto lawyer, who has made outstanding contributions to a wide variety of community activities including The Hospital for Sick Children; Jean Marc Dalpé, an outstanding Franco-Ontarian poet; George Ewan, the key founder of a scientific collaboration which led to the establishment of the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory; Canadian comedian Rick Mercer best know for his work on This Hour Has 22 Minutes; and Dorothy Pringle, a former director of Laurentian?s School of Nursing.
