MacLeod Public School principal Lynn MacDonell made a promise to her students that if they managed to collect enough donations for the Edgar Burton Food Drive, she would spend the night in the school's foyer.

True to her word, she did just that on Jan. 19 after her students collected the equivalent of 23,752 items, as well as about $4,000 worth of items for the Sudbury Infant Food Bank.

“MacLeod Mustangs are focused on a pay-it-forward philosophy and perform these kinds of good deeds with no expectation of reward,” said a news release.

In this case, however, because of the outstanding job done by the students, staff arranged some fun activities to reward and entertain the students. One of these activities had MacDonell sleeping in the school foyer overnight.

Students were also invited to wear their pyjamas today, so that MacDonell wouldn't be the only one, said the news release.
