A 34-year-old Wyoming, Ontario, man is dead after the snowmachine he was driving collided with a logging truck on a bush road near Cochrane yesterday.

The crash occurred on a logging road off Highway 579 during the noon hour.

The OPP reported that the deceased was travelling northbound with a group of sledders along the road when they encountered a southbound logging truck at a curve.

The first snowmachine navigated the curve safely, but the second machine, driven by Dough Walker, 34, crossed in front of the truck.

The driver of the logging truck tried to avoid the collision, but the sled collided with the trailer.

Walker was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Technical traffic collision investigators with the OPP continue to investigate.
