Manulife takes up residence in historic downtown Sudbury building

Financial advisers donate $10K to hospice to commemorate occasion

Manulife Securities Incorporated has opened a new branch in the Manulife Securities Building in the financial district of downtown Sudbury.

The iconic location and heritage building on the corner of Elm and Elgin streets, will now be home to senior financial adviser Anthony Delabbio and his financial team.

“Establishing our new office in Sudbury's financial district has been a 20-year goal in the making,” said Delabbio, who has over two decades of experience in the investment services industry.

“We are grateful to all of our founding clients for helping us to establish this branch in such a historical location. The location was host to different financial services over most of the past 108 years and we are honoured to re-establish that tradition while strengthening competition in the Downtown Financial District.”

To commemorate the grand opening, Delabbio, a director for Maison McCulloch Hospice Foundation, made a $10,000 personal donation to Sudbury's palliative care facility.

“The Maison McCulloch Hospice provides such a vital service to our community,” Delabbio said. “The residents and their families receive extraordinary end-of-life care, supported by impassioned volunteers and staff. The hospice's values of dignity, compassion and integrity resonate with me on both a personal and professional level.”

The new branch in the Manulife Securities building is already creating new jobs for Sudburians in the financial sector. At the official opening of the office in early December, MPP Glenn Thibeault attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the occasion.

“As both the MPP for Sudbury and a proud Northerner, I welcome Manulife Securities’ announcement to expand its footprint in our community’s downtown core,” said Thibeault.

“These new, good-paying jobs being created in Sudbury’s financial services sector are great news for our growing downtown and a significant sign of the strength of our local economy.”
