Sudbury MP Diane Marleau and Nickel Belt MP Raymond Bonin have teamed together to bring three high profile members of the Paul Martin cabinet to the City of Greater Sudbury this week.
?Northern Ontario and our region is a priority of the Prime Minister?s and of the federal government,? said Marleau, in a press release.
?By coming to the region of Sudbury, these ministers will be in a better position to see and appreciate the possibilities and challenges we face?.
?This is a direct result of Paul Martin?s new approach,? Bonin added, ?The message is clear: the federal government is committed to Northern Ontario?.
On Tuesday, Bonin and Marleau joined with the Honourable Carolyn Bennett, Minister of State (Public Health) for a consultation with stakeholders on public health issues.
On Wednesday, the two veteran MPs welcomed Deputy House Leader Mauril Bélanger for an announcement at Collège Boréal.
On Wednesday evening, Bonin will join the Honourable John Godfrey, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, in a consultation on the new deal for communities. The meeting will take place in St. Charles and include Mayors and Councillors from West Nipissing, Markstay-Warren, St.Charles, French River and Killarney.
The busy intinerary continues Thursday with Marleau and Bonin joining Honourable John Godfrey for consultations with the Mayor, Council of Greater Sudbury and stakeholders. The topic will be the cities? agenda and Sudbury?s role in our national development.
