Marleau selected as a committee chair in Ottawa

Chosen by her peers, Sudbury MP Diane Marleau has been elected to the chair of the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates.

Chosen by her peers, Sudbury MP Diane Marleau has been elected to the chair of the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates.

"I believe that committees do very good work and I am honoured to have been selected by my peers to chair this very important committee," Marleau said in a news release.

The committee has the responsibility to overview central agencies departments such as public works, human resources, the office of the governor general's secretary and crown corporations.

It also looks after statutory programs, tax expenditures, loan guarantees, contingency funds and private foundation deriving the majority of their funding from the government.
