A scheduling conflict means Greater Sudbury Mayor Brian Bigger will miss the first mayoral debate scheduled for Sept. 26.

In an email, Bigger campaign manager Bob Montgomery said he accidentally double booked the mayor for that night, who will be attending the Northern Ontario Business Awards in North Bay that evening.

“I take full responsibility for the mix up with the Good Green organizers,” Montgomery wrote. “I mistakenly confirmed his attendance without checking his mayoral engagements.”

Sudbury.com will carry the town hall debate live on our website. It's organized by the Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury, reThink Green, Citizens Climate Lobby Canada, Climate Reality, and Social Planning Council of Sudbury. The debate runs 7-9 p.m. at St. Andrews Place, 111 Larch St.

While not attending the Sept. 26 debate, Montgomery said Bigger will be attending other several other events, including a debate the next day at Laurentian University.

There are 11 people running to be mayor, including Bigger, in the Oct. 22 municipal election.
