McDougall Energy Sudbury made a $10,000 donation to the Health Sciences North Donation on June 15.

The donation was part of the Esso Community Investment Program, and McDougall Energy has designated the funds to support Health Sciences North’s Medical Learner Centre and Simulation Lab.

“We at McDougall Energy are proud to once again support Health Sciences North Foundation in their continued effort in upgrading their Learner Centre and Simulation Lab,” said Darren McDougall, president of McDougall Energy Inc., in a press release.  “On behalf of our Sudbury regional team, extended families and our partner, Imperial, we are pleased to help provide clinical staff and students with the facilities they need so that they can continue to deliver quality education and research in northeastern Ontario.”

The Esso Community Program was created to support initiatives that have a positive impact on the community, as well as reinforce the commitment of Esso-branded retailers and associates to the communities where their customers live. McDougall Energy and Imperial Oil have donated $35,000 to the Health Sciences North Foundation in the past three years.

The hospital’s Medical Learner Centre is a hands-on medical training facility that hosts the equipment and technology required to teach and train both clinical staff and students who are, or soon will be, on the front line of patient care.

“Thank you so much to McDougall Energy and Imperial Oil for their donation to the HSN Learner Centre,” said Dr. Rob Anderson, medial lead at the simulation lab, in a press release. “This new space will help create a cutting edge learning environment for our students, staff and the teams that we work with. The HSN Simulation Lab is dedicated to helping our health care providers improve the outcomes and experience of patients in our region through improving performance and recruiting leaders.”
