Sudbury.com has welcomed two new faces into our editorial family over the past couple of months.

Gia Patil has come on board to take over weekend coverage. Originally from India, Gia came to the Nickel City via her home in Toronto.

A graduate of Seneca College's broadcast journalism program, Patil is an avid learner. She is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in communication and media studies from Laurentian University, and a diploma in public relations from Cambrian College.

Follow her on Twitter @GiaPatil. If you have a story for her, you can email Patil at [email protected].

More recently, new media reporter Allana (pronounced "Ah-lane-ah" if you happen to meet her) McDougall joined the Sudbury.com news team.

Originally from Hiawatha First Nation, near Peterborough (a.k.a. Nogojiwanong, its original Ojibwe name), McDougall comes to Sudbury by way of Sheridan College, where she graduated from the school's new media journalism program. McDougall spent part of her summer interning at CBC Toronto.

She looks forward to covering Indigenous issues and arts, in particular, but will be seen in front of a camera covering a wide range of stories for Sudbury.com.

Follow McDougall on Twitter @AllanaMcDougall. If you have a story for her, you can email her at [email protected].

Welcome aboard!
