A public meeting will be held next Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 7 pm to discuss the future of library services in the Onaping/Levack area.

Since 200l, the Levack branch of the library has been located in the old Levack Public School at 38 School St. The library paid a percentage of the utility bill but no rent to the Rainbow District School Board. It is open 20 hours per week.

The school board has sold the building to a private developer who has plans to turn it into an apartment building. The developer is offering the library less space and at considerably more rent.

City of Greater Sudbury staff have recommended the library move to the former Onaping Library site (the Earl Jarvis Library) in the Onaping Community Centre, about two kilometres away from the Levack library.

This option and others including keeping the Levack branch open at its present location will be discussed at the meeting next week. The meeting will be held at the branch on School Street.
