Mining week begins in Sudbury

High-tech displays, geological field trips among events planned

Modern Mining and Technology Week in Sudbury kicked off today with a presentation by Steve Woolfeden from IAMGOLD at the annual business luncheon hosted by the Greater Sudbury Development Corporation.

The luncheon will be held at Bryston’s on the Park from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. For details, contact Paul Reid at 705-674-4455 ext 4608.

Mining week, which runs to April 30, features an array of events and programming geared towards educating the community about the many rewarding careers in today’s mining industry, including a mining and technology-related showcase at the New Sudbury Shopping Centre on April 23.

During the week, there will be guided tours of Sudbury on the various geological and historical mining sites and highlights how the local geology and mining has shaped Greater Sudbury. For a complete list of events, go online at www.modernmining.ca
