The human remains found in a bush area of Minnow Lake last week are likely those of 15-year-old Whitney Vanderwouden, who has been missing since April 27.

Greater Sudbury Police said the identify of the deceased cannot be positively identified until forensic testing has been completed.

Police have been treating the victim's death as a homicide. Two young men were arrested in Quebec last week in connection to the case.

Kristopher Lavallee, 28, and a 17-year-old boy who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, were due to be returned to Sudbury June 8. They were scheduled to attend a bail hearing June 9.
