The city is advising motorists of major traffic delays on MR 55 near the Balsam St. entrance to Copper Cliff, starting Monday, March 6.

Twin culverts that cross the roadway are being replaced by city crews. Traffic will be reduced to one-lane in each direction on MR 55 between Balsam St. and the construction site approximately 300 metres east. Work is slated for completion by Friday, March 31 but
may be delayed by weather.

To prepare for the detour, the contractor will close one westbound lane on MR 55 in the area of next week's construction to widen the road shoulder. Westbound motorists should expect minor traffic delays Friday, March 3, between 9 am and 3 pm.

Final road restoration and paving following the culvert replacement will be carried out in May.

Motorists are encouraged to allow extra time to reach their destination or to consider alternate routes.
