Celebrate Sudbury’s regreening success by submitting a photo of your favourite tree to the city’s Regreening Advisory Panel’s Favourite Tree Photo Contest and you could win yourself a prize.
Many Sudburians (OK, older ones) well-remember how the city used to look, until a dedicated team of scientists, politicians and members of the public came together to regreen the damaged landscape.
Since the United Nations has declared this the Decade of Ecosystem Restoration — something with which Sudburians are intimately familiar — it’s a perfect time to celebrate the city’s regreening success story.
“In celebration of this UN declaration and of Greater Sudbury’s regreening success, VETAC, the Regreening Advisory Panel, is encouraging local residents to participate in the Favourite Tree Photo Contest. The tree doesn’t have to be the biggest or the most beautiful, just your favourite tree in Greater Sudbury. Tell us about the tree and why it’s your favourite.”
You can make your submission by sending a photo to [email protected] from now until July 13 at 11:59 p.m. On July 14, one photo will be picked at random and the winner will receive a copy of the hardcover book Healing the Landscape — Celebrating Sudbury’s Reclamation Success, which showcases Greater Sudbury’s remarkable regreening story.
The July 14 draw isn’t your only chance to win either.
The contest will continue every week until Sept. 30, with a slight change. Rather than submitting your photo to Sudbury.com, you submit your photo to Earthcare Sudbury's Facebook page, which you can find here.
One photo will be picked at random every week and the winner will receive a copy of Healing the Landscape. You can participate every week if you wish. As well, each weekly winner will also be entered in the grand prize draw that will be held in early October. The grand prize will include a number of goodies, including a rain barrel.
There is no purchase required. Contest begins on July 8 at 12:01 a.m. (Eastern) and ends July 13 at 11:59 p.m. There is one (1) prize available to be won consisting of: (i) one (1) hardcover copy of the book called "Healing the Landscape" (approximate retail value (“APR”) $40). Skill testing question required. Open to legal residents of Canada, excluding Quebec, who are at the age of majority in their province or territory of residence at time of entry. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received before the contest closes. Entrant information may be used for marketing. There is no limit to the number of entries per participant.
