Greater Sudbury Fire Services responded to a structure fire on Beatrice Crescent at around 9:15 a.m. on Jan. 11.
The fire occurred at a semi-detached residence, and two people had to be evacuated from the building.
No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze, and the home sustained severe smoke and fire damage, with early damage estimates at roughly $180,000.
The cause of the fire has not been released at this time, but Greater Sudbury Fire Services are reminding Sudburians to make sure that they have working smoke alarms in their homes.
"Every home in Ontario must have a working smoke alarm on every storey and outside all sleeping areas," said a GSFS news release.
"Test your smoke alarms once a month and replace the batteries every year. Smoke alarms can increase your chances of surviving a fire by up to 50 per cent."
