In honour of the 150th anniversary of Confederation, Sudbury MP Paul Lefebvre will be awarding 15 special Canada 150 Sesquicentennial Pins to chosen residents of Sudbury.

Lefebvre invites constituents to nominate residents of Sudbury who have demonstrated a commitment to any of the four themes of Canada 150, or have made a significant contribution to Sudbury through volunteerism.

Canadian Heritage has identified four themes for Canada 150:
-Promoting a diverse and inclusive Canada;
-Supporting efforts towards national reconciliation of Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians;
-Reaffirming the importance of strong environmental stewardship; and
-Engaging and inspiring youth.

“The Canada 150 Sesquicentennial Pins are genuine pieces of Canadian history, having been made from copper reclaimed from the Centre Block roof when it was replaced in 1996,” said a news release.

The pins were crafted with the participation of the Ottawa–Carleton Association for Persons with Developmental Disabilities.

Nominations should include a short note outlining how the candidate being nominated meets the above criteria, as well as your name, phone number, and/or e-mail address.

Please send your nominations via Facebook @PaulLefebvre.Sudbury or Twitter @LefebvrePaul or email to [email protected], or by mail to:
Paul Lefebvre, M.P.
152 Durham Street
Sudbury, ONT, P3E 3M7

The deadline to submit nominations is Aug. 25.
