La Nuit dur L'Étang is one of several local festivals receiving support through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund.

Five local events, including the popular summer Up Here Festival, are sharing $211,000 in support through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund, local MPs announced recently.

The announcement was made jointly by Sudbury MP Viviane Lapointe and Nickel Belt MP Marc  Serré.

“This support contributed to the development of organizations hosting events and performances  in the arts, culture, and heritage sector, while offering locals and visitors an arts and culture event,” a joint release from the two politicians states. “These projects have a major impact in Sudbury, in the arts and culture sector as well as on tourism  and economic development.”

The events receiving the funding are:

  • $66,000 for Carrefour Francophone de Sudbury
  • $24,000 for La Nuit sur L’Étang
  • $20,000 for Pat the Dog Creation
  • $66,000 for Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario
  • $35,000 for Up Here Festival

In Budget 2021, the federal government earmarked $500 million for the reopening and recovery of cultural,  heritage, and sport organizations that were negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
