Today marks 100 days until the Oct. 24 municipal and school board election, and the city is reminding people to check the voters’ list.

The voters’ list for the municipal and school board election is created and provided to the city by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation, which collects and confirms voter information to prepare the final list this summer.

Residents can visit voterlookup.ca to make sure they are on the list and that their personal information is correct.

“This is an important step for everyone, but especially for those who are first-time voters, or who have moved or changed their name since the last Municipal and School Board Election in 2018,” according to the city.

The lists for federal, provincial and municipal elections are not all the same, which is why the city is urging people to make sure their information is up to date, which will save voters time on election day.

Those who don’t have internet access or have questions about the list can contact the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation at 1-866-296-6722.

Nominations for candidates will remain open until Aug. 19, with 41 candidates to date registering for the offices of mayor, ward councillor and school board trustee. Some races do not yet have any candidates. The full list of candidates can be found online at greatersudbury.ca/elections/2022-candidates.

These candidates will begin being allowed to post campaign signs on Aug. 20, and similar to the provincial and federal elections will be restricted to posting signs on private land with the owner’s permission.

The registration deadline for candidates is Aug. 19 at 2 p.m., by which time nomination papers, endorsement of nomination forms and required nomination fees must be filed in-person at the One-Stop Services area at Tom Davies Square. The requirements for candidates are listed at greatersudbury.ca/elections/for-candidates.

This year, voters will have the choice between casting an electronic (online) or paper ballot.

Electronic voting will be available from 10 a.m. on Friday, October 14 until 8 p.m. on Monday, October 24 (Election Day).

Those who prefer to cast a paper ballot can visit any voting location from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 24. Advance paper ballot voting will also be available at three locations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 15 and Oct. 22.

A full list of all voting locations is available at greatersudbury.ca/elections/for-voters.

The city will post election updates and additional information, as the election date draws closer, online at greatersudbury.ca/elections.
