Greg Baiden, professor of engineering at Laurentian University and chair in robotics in mine automation, is making presentations on mining in outer space, the ocean floor and ?deep in the Earth?s crust? to senior students in area secondary school.
Baiden recently obtained a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair valued at $200,000 per year for a period of seven years.
The former head of mines research at Inco Ltd., Baiden is considered the foremost authority in mining automation.

The Irish Heritage Club of Sudbury in partnership with the Sudbury chapter of the Kidney Foundation of Canada will host the Walk for a Second Chance this Saturday in order to raise awareness about the need for organ donations.
The walk will start at 11 am at the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre, proceed to the corner of Regent and Paris Streets, and then return to the park.
Food and refreshments will be served after the walk. This will be followed by Irish entertainment.
