Wyman MacKinnon, president of CUPE Local 4705, is seeking the NDP nomination in Sudbury. He advocates a ban on replacement workers during a strike as well as a legislated 40-hour workweek.
MacKinnon is running against Harvey Wyres. A nomination meeting will take place this Sunday at the Steelworkers' Hall, 92 Frood Rd. at 3 pm. The guest speaker will be Marilyn Churley, from the Toronto-Danforth ridings.

Tomson Highway, who makes his home in the Sudbury area for part of the year, is a finalist in the Ruth Schwartz Children's Book Award for his book Dragonfly Kites. Winners will be announced May 7.
