Ted Nolan, a former NHL coach will be the motivational speaker Saturday, March 29, at the final day of the career fair, hosted by Nokiiwin Employment Services at N'Swakamok Native Friendship Centre, Elm Street.
Wyman MacKinnon, president of CUPE Local 4705, is seeking the NDP nomination in Sudbury. He advocates a ban on replacement workers during a strike as well as a legislated 40-hour workweek.
MacKinnon is running against Harvey Wyres. A nomination meeting will take place this Sunday at the Steelworkers' Hall, 92 Frood Rd. at 3 pm. The guest speaker will be Marilyn Churley, from the Toronto-Danforth ridings.
Tomson Highway, who makes his home in the Sudbury area for part of the year, is a finalist in the Ruth Schwartz Children's Book Award for his book Dragonfly Kites. Winners will be announced May 7.
