Eleven Greater Sudbury?s best minor midget hockey players have been selected to participate in a huge showcase hockey tournament in Toronto this weekend.
The Ontario Hockey League has announced it will be hosting a minor midget tournament in Toronto due to the change in age in minor hockey.
The tournament features 16 teams from across Ontario and the United States, including an all-star team from the Great North Midget League representing the Northern Ontario Hockey Association.
Local players selected are Jonathan Robin (goaltender) and Craig Montgomery (forward) from the Rayside-Balfour Jr. Sabrecats, Scott Lavigne (defence), Matthew Chiupka (defence), Greg Zacher (defence), Jeff Christison (forward), J.F. Houle (forward), Michael Spencer (forward) and Jadran Beljo (forward) from the Sudbury Cara?s Nickel Capitals. Also selected were Kyle Hope (defence) and Kris Purawec (forward) from the Valley East Consbec midgets.
