National Aboriginal Day turns 25: Local celebration in the works

A celebration of the 25th anniversary of National Aboriginal Day takes place at O'Connor Park June 21. The free event takes place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Activities include a welcoming ceremony, a breakfast, storytelling, children's activities and a noon-hour smudge. Participants are asked to bring their own seating as well as hand drums.

The event is being hosted by Better Beginnings Better Futures in partnership with the Aboriginal Best Start Hub, Aboriginal Peoples Alliance Northern Ontario, CAS, Metis Nation of Ontario, Jubilee Heritage Family Resources, Shkagamik-Kwe Health Centre, N’Swakamok Native Friendship Centre, NOAH Community Hub and Sudbury Youth Rocks.
