This news release was issued June 4, 2018, by the NDP on behalf of Sudbury candidate Jamie West and Nickel Belt candidate France Gélinas

Ontario voters will decide Thursday who will be premier, but Kathleen Wynne has already made her choice. It's Doug Ford, according to political experts.

Bruce Cochrane, a political science professor at the University of Toronto says that Wynne's event-packed concession tour is designed to help Doug Ford win and save the Liberals from oblivion:

“[T]he Liberals would rather see Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservatives win, Cochrane explains. That’s because an NDP victory would make the NDP a more credible ‘progressive alternative’ in future elections.”

Cochrane’s commentary is consistent with the views of former Liberal strategist Warren Kinsella earlier in the campaign:

"Senior/exiled Ontario Liberals telling me, if they had to choose, they want to lose to Ford over Horwath. He’ll likely be one term, and we can rebuild and come back. But with her, she may last a decade or more." https://twitter.com/kinsellawarren/status/998584972704342016

This election will be the closest in years. Every single vote, in every single riding, will impact the outcome. Only a vote for Andrea Horwath and the NDP can stop Doug Ford and his plans to cut from our hospitals, schools and services families count on.
