A case of COVID-19 has been reported at École Jean-Paul II in Val Caron.

“The individual who tested positive for COVID-19 is currently self-isolating and being monitored by Public Health Sudbury & Districts while the investigation continues,” said a letter dated March 15 posted on the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon website.

The school’s Grade 7A class has been dismissed until March 24. Public Health Sudbury & Districts is working closely with the school to manage the case. They will directly contact all parents of children and all school personnel who have been identified as close contacts.

More specific information for parents/guardians at École Jean-Paul II is available in the letter from the school board.

Public Health Sudbury has cancelled in-person learning at all local schools until further notice due to the COVID-19 situation.

There are currently 40 known active cases of COVID-19 associated with area schools, and six active school outbreaks.**

**An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated the number of outbreaks. That has been corrected.
