New member on University of Sudbury board of regents

The University of Sudbury has appointed Marc A. Therrien to its board of regents. 

Therrien has a background spanning more than 27 years within the civil engineering field with a focus on areas such as municipal infrastructure projects, information technology and control systems design. 

He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree at Laurentian University in 1990, and studied other technical fields until 2002 at Cambrian College. 

He is also accredited with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) as a Limited Licensee – Electrical Engineering (LEL). 
 
Therrien is currently employed by J.L. Richards & Associates Limited (JLR) as a Project Manager / Senior Electrical Technologist. 

Prior to this appointment, he occupied a number of positions at R.V. Anderson Associates Limited (RVA) from 1990-2018, notably that of Project Manager / Senior Associate from 2000-2018. He also worked as an independent Information Technology Consultant from 1999-2012. 
 
Amongst a list of accomplishments, Therrien was involved in a number of local projects, such as the Laurentian University Campus Modernization Project (Civil Works) until August 2017, the Countryside Arena Parking in Sudbury in 2012, and the Sudbury Sewage Treatment Plant Headworks Project, which was completed in January 2016 and won the Ontario Public Works Association (OPWA) Project of the Year Award. 

He also authored and co-authored articles for Environmental Science and Engineering, a Canadian publication covering a wide range of topics such as water and wastewater treatment.  
 
“We are pleased to welcome our newest member, Mr. Marc Therrien, to our Board of Regents,” said University of Sudbury president Sophie Bouffard, in a press release. 

“Mr. Therrien is driven to support the University and its student body, and brings a wealth of new knowledge to the table,” said board of regents chairperson Pierre Riopel.

“We look forward to working with him and all of our devoted board of regents members in pursuing our mission as a student-centered university.”
