New Sudbury Days is returning for a fifth year with activities on Aug. 24 and 25 at Twin Forks and Westmount community parks.

This festival is a series of free family-focused events that offers opportunities for residents to get together and celebrate the New Sudbury neighbourhood.

The festival kicks off with a free community BBQ sponsored by the Sudbury Credit Union at Twin Forks Playground on Gary Street on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The day also includes family friendly activities including bouncy castles, face painting, live entertainment and activities from a variety of community organizations including the Junction Creek Stewardship Committee, Cambrian College, Active Sudbury, the Greater Sudbury Police and the Greater Sudbury Fire and Paramedic Services.

The evening will close with a community showing of the movie "Wonderpark" at 8 p.m. Free popcorn and refreshments will be served.

On Sunday, Aug. 25, residents can join Bike Sudbury/Vélo Sudbury for a family bike ride along quiet residential streets and the New Sudbury trail. The ride will be approximately 12 km in length, and will be led by a certified CANBIKE instructor. Children are welcome.

The Place Hurtubise Tenants Association will also host its End of Summer Party from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25. This free afternoon of fun for the whole family will include an inflatable slip and slide, bubble soccer, music and a bubble blowing area.

The entire festival will then kick-off with a fireworks display at Westmount Park at 9 p.m. sponsored by the Ward 8 Community Action Network, Dreamcatcher Fireworks, and the Westmount Neighbourhood Association.

Cash, cheque and food donations for the Sudbury Food Bank will be accepted Thursday-Saturday from 9am-9pm at the Lasalle Metro (Thursday), Falconbridge Giant Tiger (Friday) and Twin Forks Park (Saturday).
