On Jan. 22, the Nickel Masonic Lodge delivered a van full of winter essential clothing items to the Sudbury Red Coats.
Earlier in January, the lodge received a generous sock donation from Peavey Mart to contribute to their annual winter clothing appeal. Last year, the Nickel Masonic Lodge donated an abundance of winter essential items they collected through the drive to the YMCA. They carried on the cold-weather tradition by connecting with the Sudbury Red Coats.
The Sudbury Red Coats is a non-profit outreach organization formed by L'Association Des Jeunes De La Rue a number of years ago. The group often patrols Sudbury’s downtown core to hand out warm clothing, blankets and hot refreshments during cold weather alerts.
After another year of collecting a tremendous amount of clothing, winter garments, blankets and sleeping bags, the lodge members met up with Tiffany Taylor, who is the outreach co-ordinator with the Sudbury Red Coats, to replenish their stock of essential items to donate.
The press release stated that Taylor was, “most grateful for the clothing and assured [the lodge] all clothing items would be gratefully received from those in need.”
