As of Monday, there were no new forest fires burning in the northeast, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is reporting, and the number of fires has shrunk.

Last week, the ministry was monitoring or battling nine fires in the region. That number has now shrunk down to three fires. And the largest of the three, Hearst 4 and 5, which were 478 and 2,574 hectares respectively last week, are still not under control, but they aren’t growing either, the ministry said.

Those two fires are west of the west of the junction between Highway 11 and Highway 631. Wawa 7, the other fire in the northeast, is located west of White River.

The forest fire hazard is low to high across the region.
