The Member of Provincial Parliament of Sudbury, Jamie West, has set up a program to recognize Sudburians who go above and beyond to improve their neighbours’ lives.

The past year has been very difficult for everyone, but Sudbury continues to thrive because we always pull together as a community, said a press release from West.

“I would like to help bring some brightness through an MPP ‘Good Neighbours Award,’” West said.

The "Good Neighbours Award" is reserved for individuals or groups within the Sudbury riding, from all fields of endeavour and backgrounds, whose excellence exemplifies the selflessness, tenacity and commitment of our community.

Here are a few examples of appropriate nominations:

  • Nominating an Education Worker who has gone above and beyond for their students
  • Nominating a person, group or organization who has made and donated masks, sanitizer or PPE to the community
  • Nominating a health care hero

Nominating a friend who continuously picks up groceries for seniors

You cannot nominate:

  • Yourself
  • An elected federal, provincial or municipal representative

“Let’s celebrate the small victories and recognize individuals who don’t always get enough appreciation!” West said.

If you know someone who has shown kindness, innovation and creativity this past year,  nominate them. To nominate someone you must complete this form.

The nomination deadline is Jan. 29, and the winners will be contacted in February.

Phone or email West’s office more information at 705-675-1914 or [email protected].
