NORCAT's Innovation Mill, created to help foster and train new entrepreneurs in Sudbury, is launching a new Startup Series to gather its three programs under one brand.
Hailey Short, a communications specialist with NORCAT, said it made sense to have one overarching brand for the Innovation Mill.
In September NORCAT will launch Startup 101 (http://www.norcat.org/startup-101/) a free 25-week in-person lecture series meant to give entrepreneurs the tools they need to launch successful businesses.
Local entrepreneurs will share their own experiences and industry experts will also give lectures on different aspects of operating a business, from creating a business plan, to marketing and accounting.
Startup 101 is a rebranded version of Entrepreneurship 101, which has helped 70 to 90 people a year, over the past three years, get the tools they need to start successful businesses.
The Startup Series will also include a new program called Startup Labs – a series of longer workshops that teach basic and important skills for new and established business owners.
Short said one session in November, for example, will deal with media coaching.
The Startup Series will also include a monthly networking event called Startup Drinks – where attendees meet at a different local restaurant the last Wednesday of every month, and have an opportunity to meet with local entrepreneurs in an informal setting.
